On average, the U.S. teen (13-18) spends over seven hours each day consuming media (New York Times).  With constant messages on mediums ranging from TV news to social media to political ads to video games, it is more crucial than ever that our students learn some simple, concrete fact-checking skills to help them confidently evaluate and analyze these messages.  In this course, educators will:

  1. Explore the what and the why of media literacy 

  2. Evaluate various media literacy teaching methods 

  3. Develop a media literacy lesson and project that can be used in the classroom tomorrow!
