Building a Positive School Culture - Graduate Course

A positive school culture can make staff and students feel welcome and inspired when they walk into their school each morning; while a negative school culture can make the school day feel tedious and demoralizing.   

This course will challenge educators to examine and influence their school’s culture through the following:  

  1. Explore the Four Pillars of School Culture, as defined in EdWeek:  relationships; high academic expectations with strong supports; consistency in expectations for behavior and discipline; and regular feedback.  

  2. Evaluate your school’s strengths and weaknesses in each Pillar.

  3. Develop and implement an Action Plan to improve one area of school culture in your building.

Successful Completion of this course will result in 3 Graduate Credits from CSU Pueblo.
